Josh Gordon *Allegedly* Fails Drug Test… Again

Well, I think that’s the end of Josh Gordon’s NFL career. At the very least, I think he’s done with the Cleveland Browns.

Several sources yesterday reported that Josh Gordon failed a drug test last month, which is nothing new for the wide receiver. Now, nothing has actually been confirmed by the NFL, the Browns, or by Gordon himself while I’m writing this (7:56 PM on Monday, April 11th), but for the sake of football fans everywhere, I’m hoping this isn’t true.

During the one relatively full NFL season we got to see from him, Gordon hauled in 87 catches for over 1,600 yards and 9 touchdowns. That was in 14 games… with Cleveland Brown quarterbacks throwing to him. That is damn impressive. Honestly, on talent alone, he’s in my top five for best wide receivers in the pros today. However, he can’t stay on the field due to his own poor choices. He got suspended while at Baylor, he got suspended in 2013 because of drugs, in 2014 because of drugs, and he sat out all of last season due to a suspension for, you guessed it, drugs! Mainly, these suspensions have been marijuana-related, which is really bad because it’s not like you can get addicted to pot.

I’m not here to get into the drug discussion with anyone. In fact, I don’t really care if people smoke weed. I don’t think it should be on the list of banned substances either under law or under NFL rules and regulations. But, the fact is that it is. So, whether you like it or not, you have to follow it! The thing I don’t get about Josh Gordon is that he must know how naturally talented he is. He could literally be ROLLING in money if he could stay on the field. But he hasn’t learned yet to stay away from these substances. If you’ve got a problem, you’ve got a problem. Go get help! Do something! Unfortunately, he just hasn’t learned. I’ll save my complete, utter judgment until it’s proven one way or another, but this isn’t a good look for him either way.

  1. And as if the situation couldn’t get worse, Johnny Manziel is reportedly rooming with him instead of Von Miller. As if both of those guys don’t have individual problems, they’re only going to compound because of the presence of one another. I think both guys are done in the NFL.
