Top Heisman Candidates Week 6

5 weeks down and the Heisman race is heating up. As conference play continues this week things will looks to get even tougher to decide with elite performances coming one after another.

7-13-17_Rashaad_Penny_589x5. Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State: This is Penny’s first week on the list, but as the nation’s second leading rusher by almost 200 yards, it most likely won’t be his last. The Aztecs running back has eclipsed 100 yards each game and rushed for 7 TD’s already. He also has 119 receiving yards and 2 TD’s. Panny should have another massive game this week as San Diego State takes on UNLV.

4. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville: Louisville won big again last week and it was thanks to another huge performance by Lamar Jackson. He threw for 249 yards and 3 TD’s while rushing for another 100 yards and a TD. Jackson puts up huge numbers every game and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. He’s a top 10 passer and rusher in college but familiarity and having almost no chance to make it to the national championship hurt his Heisman chances.

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls3. Bryce Love, RB, Stanford: Bryce Love is the second newcomer on the list this week and he’s also the leading rusher in college football. Love has gone for over 100 yards each game and the last two weeks he has rushed for 263 yards and 301 yards, which set the single game record for rushing yards by a Stanford running back. Love has also found the endzone in each game.  Love should continue to have these huge games and if he adds a couple more performances like he’s had the last two weeks he could come away on top.

baker-action22. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma: Oklahoma was on the bye so Mayfield didn’t do anything this past weekend, but his season is still highly impressive. His number shouldn’t drop off and as long as Oklahoma keeps winning his name will be in the conversation for Heisman.

saquon-barkley1. Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State: Barkley once again impressed, this time as an all around player not just running back. He managed to go for over 200 total yards on the day going for just over 50 yards both rushing and receiving  and adding a 98 yard kick return for a TD. Barkley’s numbers haven’t been insane but his efficiency and play style have. Barkley’s numbers might be the least impressive here but his play isn’t.
